Strong faith provides hope for the future and a pathway out of suffering, and churches are a reliable way to distribute aid to communities. Effective ministry requires both a practical and spiritual approach.
Haiti
Our partner Max Manning of Global Missions has worked in Haiti for more than 40 years and heads a network of more than 1,500 Haitian pastors and ministers. He also works closely with hospitals and children’s homes and over his lifetime of service has built almost 160 churches across the nation.
India/Nepal
In India, the oppressed lower castes are the most physically needy and spiritually open, having been shunned by established Hindu society. Our partner since 1995, P.T. Varghese heads up a network of 225 native evangelists and 325 churches, 2 schools and 2 children’s homes across 14 Indian states and also Nepal. Each year, he graduates about 30 students from a one-year Bible training program to send them into active ministry. Many hazard their lives to carry the love of Christ into unreached regions. Recent floods in northern India have damaged some of these churches and destroyed homes, while anti-Christian persecution has cost others their homes or even their lives. Yet survivors remain determined to replant and rebuild what they have started.
In Southern India, we’re proud to support Eternal Light Ministries and their intensive 2-month Bible program which has advanced 3,000 students into the ministry and equipped another 3,000 as music ministers. Founders Sam and Dawn Taylor also run a successful school serving all faiths and have now focused efforts to open what will be India’s first Christian University. The university will offer academic excellence to bright students who’ve been excluded from mainstream Hindu universities because of their faith or low caste.
“And the common people heard him gladly.” Mark 12:37
North Africa/Middle East
A network of home based Bible schools allow students to meet in secret, apart from the watchful eyes of hostile governments in this region.
