A convergence
Global Aid Partnership is a torch for a new generation, lit from the fires of a legendary past. Founders John Greiner, Lonnie Rex, and his son, Royce Rex merge decades of humanitarian service and foreign missions work. Royce, Chief Operating Officer, shares what sparked their passion for social service and how it came to ignite Global Aid Partnership:
“My dad, Lonnie Rex, was nine when he contracted polio. I think the seed to serve others was planted in his heart back then. The March of Dimes helped his family by paying for his medical rehabilitation and college education. He always felt compelled to give back after that.
“In 1957 Dad began helping at mass ministry outreaches for [noted international evangelist] T.L. Osborn. Dad traveled to Europe, India and Africa, and often, he saw extreme poverty. He always did what he could to help others, but there were so many destitute people out there who just needed the basics food, shelter and clothing. And their pressing health needs weighed on Dad. T.L. Osborn urged him to follow his heart. So in 1969, Dad established a charitable foundation to focus on human assistance.”
“Two years later I joined the organization and opened offices in Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Austria and Germany. Dad has cared for hurting people for 47 years. Thankfully, he has shared that same care and commitment with me, which is why I have worked alongside him for 35 years.”
Global Aid Partnership is born
“After years of making a difference for so many people, Dad transferred the charitable foundation to new leadership. He tried retirement, but even at age 80 the needs of the desperate got the better of him. He started looking for a way to help.
A mutual friend connected Dad with John Greiner in 2008. They found they both shared a common passion. John has traveled extensively in ministry like my dad and has seen the ravages of poverty. John’s congregation, Glorious Way Church, was supporting many foreign mission projects and was looking to do more. The two men joined their vision, I connected with it, and Global Aid Partnership took shape. Now, all three of us are working together to help those who don’t yet have the means to help themselves.”
