New school. New hope.

In Madame Beauge’, just outside Port-Au-Prince, opportunity was running dangerously low for hundreds of children who call the village home. Now our partner Jim Akers of Christian Relief Ministries has completed a landmark new school here, and you helped. It’s a great new environment that can help these students break the grip of poverty. Before, determined children met for school in a dim, one-room hut, poorly ventilated and far from adequate. The community was notorious for poverty and hunger. Now, the first session of school is underway in 6 well-ventilated classrooms. Competent teachers are battling a 70% illiteracy rate, but they’re making progress!  A donation of just $150 pays a teacher for an entire month. $15 will purchase a semester’s supplies for one student so eager to learn. Let’s give the children in Madame Beauge’ a chance at a brighter future. Though French and Creole are the official languages, we caught up with this boy proud to show off in English: eager to learn
